STAGE 18 PARAMOUNT LOT, 1961. Jerry Lewis once again starred in, wrote, and directed another Paramount comedy: The Ladies Man. In the film, Herbert T. Heebert is jilted by his girlfriend and lands a job as a handyman in an all-girls boardinghouse. Stage 18 was for a time nicknamed “The Ladies Man Stage” due to its enormous set that many reviewers claimed was the real star of the film.

PARAMOUNT BACKLOT, 1961. Here, adjacent to the New York Street set, is the newly added “Modern Storefronts” exterior set. These modern settings were used for more contemporary films of the time. Paramount, like most Hollywood Studios, built them to avoid the logistical problems and expense of filming on location.
